“Geburt” examines birth as the most radical transformation
of human existence. Formed in clay and fractured mirror, the
piece contrasts softness and sharp reflection to symbolize
vulnerability and renewal.
The mirrors are intentionally placed to reflect the viewer,
emphasizing that transformation is not distant or
symbolic — it belongs to each of us.

/ PROJECT BRIEF
This clay sculpture explores the contrast between strength
and vulnerability. The shark, often seen as a symbol of
power, is presented here in a fragile and wounded state,
challenging the idea that strength means invincibility.
Through both sketches and the final form, the project
reflects on how resilience and fragility can exist at the same
time.

This project reinterprets traditional Ukrainian food through
felted wool, transforming something edible into a soft, tactile
object. By recreating familiar forms in an unexpected material,
the work shifts the focus from consumption to emotion.
The use of wool emphasizes warmth, comfort and the feeling
of home, turning a simple dish into a symbol of memory and
belonging.

This work is inspired by traditional Ukrainian clothing and
embroidery patterns. I developed the motif myself and
translated it into hand-sewn beadwork, combining cultural
symbolism with contemporary interpretation.
The process of stitching each bead individually reflects
patience, tradition and the quiet continuity of craft across
generations.
